Ownerversary Contest Winner
To commemorate our first anniversary as Capital Resorts Group, in the February edition of The Capital Connection we asked members to share one of their “million perfect moments”. As part of the Capital Ownerversary Contest, members submitted entries for a chance to win an 8 day, 7 night vacation to one of our luxurious Capital Lifestyles properties in Miami, FL or Las Vegas, NV.
Just minutes after the newsletter went out, the submissions started flooding in! We were blown away by the number of heartwarming and funny entries we received. Thank you to all of our members that took the time to share their experiences with us! There were so many great vacation stories and photos, it was tough for us to choose just one winner. Take a look at a few of our favorite entries here.
We are proud to announce the Cassell Family of North Carolina as the winner of the Capital Ownerversary Contest. Donna Cassell submitted the winning entry as a tribute to her daughter-in-law who passed away not long after the photo was taken.
The photo, taken by another family member, is of Donna’s son and his wife strolling along one evening in Myrtle Beach on their last vacation together. The Cassell family’s story touched our hearts and brought to life our motto “home to a million perfect moments”, by proving the importance of making memories. Life is short – you have to enjoy those precious moments with loved ones while you can. And what better place to create those treasured lifelong memories than on vacation.

“It will always be memorable because it was the last time I enjoyed watching my daughter-in-law hunt for shark teeth and give them away to all of the kids who flocked to her. She passed away one month later at the age of 41. I’m so glad I had the opportunity to have her stay with me at the hotel to enjoy her favorite beach in the world.”

Biloxi: Adventure Beyond the Slots
One of the more popular activities for our guests staying at Ocean View Vacation Villas in Biloxi, Mississippi is to try their hand at any of several casinos located in the area. Biloxi offers eight first-class casino resorts such as Beau Rivage, Treasure Bay and Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. While there is no shortage of opportunities to gamble, it isn’t the only thing the Gulf Coast town has to offer.
For those on a losing streak or who don’t necessarily care for gambling, Biloxi offers a number of alternatives to make your vacation enjoyable. There are attractions to intrigue the interests of everyone from children to adults and theater enthusiasts to sports fanatics.
While casinos are one of the more popular attractions, some would argue that Biloxi’s golf courses are the main tourist lure in town. Biloxi offers several 18-hole golf courses for golfers of all skill sets. For beginners or those who don’t have a natural feel for the game, The Grand Bear Golf Course is the place to go. This par 72 course designed by golfing legend Jack Nicklaus prides itself on giving golfers a fighting chance for a low score with its wide fairways and shallow sand bunkers.
For the golfers who want to take in a view while playing a round, the Great Southern Golf Club would be a good choice. Overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the par 71 Great Southern Golf Club course was established in 1908 and is Mississippi’s oldest course. If a tee time is not available at one of those two courses, Biloxi offers several other great courses such as Sunkist Country Club, Dogwood Hills Golf Course and Gulf Hills Golf Club.
Not everyone visiting Biloxi may be interested in playing golf. But for those who still want to participate in outdoor sports, there is something for them, too. Many visitors choose to charter a fishing trip into the Gulf from one of Biloxi’s marinas. For visitors with the dream of a fishing trip, but who are prone to getting sea sick, several public piers such as the Ocean Springs Fishing Bridge are another option.
If observing sports is more of your style, then perhaps the Shuckers are a safe bet. The Biloxi Shuckers are the Milwaukee Brewers Double-A minor league baseball affiliate. Fans of baseball can try to catch a Shuckers home game near the end of summer when MGM Park finishes renovations.
A trip to the coast wouldn’t be complete without visiting the beach at least once or twice. Beaches such as Biloxi Beach and Ship Island offer guests a chance to lay out under the sun while relaxing and enjoying their vacation. Several beaches also offer water adventures such as Jet Ski and paddleboard rentals, or parasailing.
If taking home a souvenir from your vacation is on your list, there are several locations to shop throughout the Gulf Coast town. The Edgewater Mall allows visitors to shop all their favorite stores such as Aeropostale, Dillard’s and JC Penney. For shopping while enjoying the culture of the Gulf Coast, the Main Street District offers several specialty shops to stroll through.
Biloxi also features several historic tourist attractions to visit. The Saenger Theater downtown is a historic theater/museum that plays host to a number of performing art and city events. If no show is playing, there are eight other museums to check out. The Biloxi Lighthouse is a popular attraction that allows visitors to learn about the history of the structure and how it has been able to survive a number of hurricanes. The Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art is another well-known museum that features exhibits such as Katrina +10, an interesting display with multi-media interactions that examine the destruction, relief and recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
If the kids have fun learning about historic Biloxi, then they’ll love going to the Big Play Family Fun Center. A local favorite for birthday parties and family fun, Big Play Family Fun Center allows kids the opportunity to play exciting games such as mini golf, bumper cars and arcade games while running around the adventure park.
After a fun-filled day on the beach or touring around Biloxi, parents can unwind at one of the spas located in town. Senses Spa and Salon offers guests a chance to relax with body scrub massages, manicures and pedicures. Other spas such as Bellissimo Spa and Salon offer similar packages with massages and facials. A long day of taking in all that Biloxi has to offer can be exhausting, and a full body treatment or massage is the perfect way to relax at the end of the day.
